JULIAN
APPLE DAYS
September to November 2009
The Centennial celebration of Julian Apple Days continues with a historic
apple display in Town Hall on Sept 8th through Sept
21st. With the apple harvest underway, there are
plenty of activities around town including apple pressing
demonstrations, pumpkin patches, gold panning, a scarecrow contest,

HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT
Saturday, Sept 19th
The Santa Ysabel Casino $3000 Horseshoe Tournament kicks off at
10am with DJ entertainment, drinks, a chili cook-off and shoes. 48
teams will enter the competition with entries on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Pre-registration is
strongly recommended by calling (760) 787-2203.
SCARECROW COMPETITION
Sept 20th to October 30th
Larger than life scarecrow creations are displayed outdoors at
Wynola Farms Marketplace and compete for prizes. Be sure to
vote for your favorites! All entries must feature an apple theme
and delivered on Sept 20th . For more information, rules &

39th ANNUAL BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL
Saturday, Sept 20th-21st
The Julian Lions Club presents the 39th Annual Bluegrass Festival,
the oldest bluegrass festival in California, featuring numerous
musical artists, many of whom got their start on this stage. Hours
are 9am to 6pm Saturday, 9am to 4pm Sunday at Frank Lane Park.

KID'S FISHING DERBY
Saturday, Sept 26th (6 am start)
Lake Cuyamaca hosts its annual "Fishin' in the Pines"
kids Derby. Fishing is free for children 15 and under with
prizes awarded by age category.

MENGHINI ART & MUSIC FESTIVAL
Saturday & Sunday, Sept 26th-27th 10am to 5pm
A small town tradition, the Menghini Arts, Wine and Music
Festival, marks the 23rd year of celebrating the good life in the
back-country. Many area artists working in glass, clay, wood,
painting and more will be on hand to show & sell their work.
Sample locally grown and produced wines, listen to live country
music and enjoy the culture and fresh mountain air. FREE
